The Hero, the Lover, the Warrior, The Ruler and the Joker are just a few of the "archetypes" or common patterns of behaviour which provide the deep structure for human motivation and meaning.
When we encounter them in art, literature, sacred texts, advertising - or in individuals or groups - they evoke deep feeling within us. These imprints, which are hard-wired in our minds, were, and are, represented as images of gods and goddess and our modern day heroes. They have existed for centuries and they influence all our lives. Mother Teresa (Mother), Nelson Mandela (Ruler), Sports Stars (Warriors), Eddie Murphy (Joker) are just a few of the modern day representations.
There are times when life calls you to be one of these. Some enchanted evening, the Lover archetype/pattern comes up from your unconscious mind and takes over. A child is hurt and you drop what you were doing and pick him up (Caregiver). A career change looms and you suddenly take charge, set goals, and achieve… (Warrior)
Building upon Jung's work and the work of Carol Pearson a system of 12 archetypes/behaviour patterns is used that puts a human face on the meaning structures that are associated with success and fulfilment today. Learning about the ‘archetypes’ can help to:
· Become more effective in your personal and professional life.
· Create a healthy and balanced organisation.
· Create a “brand” identity aligned with the actual values and strengths of the organization and its products.
· Inspire customer and employee loyalty.
· Improve communications between people.
· Understand the needs of the employee and customer.
· Make a positive contribution to society.
· Develop emotional intelligence.
