Mentoring

Access to expertise to help your business grow

Almost everyone has a mentor, although you may not recognise them as such. Your mentors are the people you turn to when you need a sounding board or are unsure about which direction to take – friends, family, solicitors, accountants or people you have met through business or social networks. People you know and trust.

However, sometimes it’s good to get a fresh and objective perspective of your business and this is where an independent Mentor can help. Mentoring offers a more structured approach to helping managers and their businesses to grow and succeed. Elementals can offer mentors to business managers throughout the East Midlands to improve their performance.

Develop your skills through mentoring

If you are the owner or senior manager in a business then mentoring may well be for you. Through elementals you can access the knowledge and expertise of skilled mentors to help you to develop your own skills, solve problems, grow your business and become more effective in all areas of your personal and professional life.

Mentoring can provide:

- Help to focus on the longer-term needs of you and your business
- The chance to evaluate and address your development needs
- An opportunity to unlock creativity to solve problems and explore options
- Awareness of resources, business networks and other support for you and your business
- Help to investigate learning skills and methods
-Increased motivation
- A one-to-one dynamic relationship

What’s involved?

Step 1 – Benchmarking

The first activity is to discuss your situation and establish your needs.

Step 2 – Your mentor

You and your mentor will agree to meet as required. The programme is designed around a plan created by the two of you and the number of sessions needed will be agreed by both parties.

Step 3

At the end of the mentoring sessions there will be a review and you can discuss with your mentor the effectiveness of your sessions to date.

Working with your mentor

Mentoring sessions can be used to discuss any issue – what is discussed is up to you. You mentor will act as a sounding board and will provide a focal point for your discussions. They will listen, offer an experienced point of view, help you evaluate solutions and, where possible, provide you with help and advice.
